The design for this website was done by myself. In my years as a journalist and reporter I had to be as self-sufficient as possible in using different means of transmitting the stories I wrote. Web design therefore became an important aspect of my work.
Prior to being a journalist I was a photographer (or, maybe more accurate: aspired to be…). Up to today, photography is one of my passions. It is a fantastic way of being present in the world, looking for shades, colours, shapes, patterns and emotions in my immediate environment. Finding that angle, the perfect light, the exact right moment is still a great thrill, joy and source of contentment.
On this site I have hardly used my own imagery. Instead, I chose to get the photos from a website where they can be taken free of charge: pexels.com. In my own photography I try to focus on humanity, on what makes us human. Whereas for this site I purposefully tried to concentrate on images of a more abstract nature, most often without any people in them. The main reason is that I do not want to suggest any of the people that are in the photos are in any way linked to the texts I wrote. For me, this is an extension of confidentiality.
Since June 2023 I also use AI to generate my own images. The most important reason is: the costs of licensing images are too much for me to bear. The second reason is: through AI I can generate the images that best fit the ideas I have about the illustrations I wish to use for my site, and the individual posts and pages I have here.
However, because people of course form the heart of my work as a counselling psychologist, I decided to use a few very beautiful photos on humanity here, on this page. As a homage to homo sapiens sapiens
